Joe Tirado is an independent international arbitrator with over 35 years of experience in dispute resolution. He has held global leadership positions the leading firms from four major jurisdictions; UK, US (Illinois and Texas) and Spain.. A solicitor-advocate with full rights of audience before all civil courts in England & Wales, Mr. Tirado has acted as counsel, arbitrator, mediator, adjudicator, conciliator, and expert determiner in hundreds of cases across more than 70 jurisdictions, involving disputes exceeding US$10 billion in total.

Mr. Tirado has conducted and advised on over 100 international commercial and investment arbitrations and over 50 mediations and other alternative dispute resolution processes under all major rules and institutions, as well as in UNCITRAL and ad hoc proceedings. He has acted for sovereign states, multinationals, and high-net-worth individuals in complex commercial matters across sectors such as energy, finance, ICT, construction, and transport.

Mr. Tirado is a CEDR-accredited commercial and investor-state mediator, Civil Mediation Council Fellow, former ICSID conciliator (appointed by the President of the World Bank Group, 2018-2024), panel member of a number of leading invitation-only arbitration and mediation panels, including the European Union and United Nations and regular speaker and author on arbitration and ADR.
