Prof. Islambek Rustambekov

Prof. Islambek Rustambekov is Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Tashkent State University of Law and Professor of Private International Law. He is a Doctor of Law and an internationally recognized expert in private international law, investment law, international commercial arbitration, investor-State dispute settlement, and mediation. Prof. Rustambekov has extensive academic, institutional, and practical experience in dispute resolution, including serving as an arbitrator, mediator, legal expert, and speaker at leading international arbitration forums. He is a member of the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators, member of the Supervisory board of OIC-AC, Turkic Arbitration Association and chair of the board of UDRC, listed as arbitrator in more than 10 arbitration institutions and has been actively involved in the development of arbitration and mediation in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. He has contributed to numerous academic publications, legal reforms, and international cooperation initiatives aimed at strengthening the rule of law, legal education, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. His work focuses on the modernization of dispute resolution systems, the development of arbitration-friendly legal frameworks, and the promotion of Central Asia as an emerging hub for international commercial and investment dispute resolution.
